Nagaraja & Nagayakshi are the supreme of Snake gods, which is being worshipped in this temple since centuries. Every year on Aayilyam day of the Malayalam month “Mithunam” – Brahmin priests of Pathirakunnath mana perform “Sarpa bali” in this temple, which is attended by all devotees to attain salvation from Sarpa – Visha  - Drishti doshas (Curses due to Snake-poison and evil sight).
